Holiday rememberance

The holiday season is exciting and magical with young children. As they grow, little moments start to come out of the woodwork–moments that will become traditions and things that I want my children to remember when they’re older and attempting to create their own lives.

Like holiday baking. As soon as people start talking about Thanksgiving, I start thinking about all the yummy things I can bake during the season and through the end of the year.

Decorating cookies. And I use the term “decorating” very loosely.

More like pile on as many sprinkles as you can. Who cares? This provided sheer minutes of entertainment, people.

Playing at the park on a crisp day. No Black Friday for us, thankyouverymuch.

Ridin high. I’ll be so sad when she’s old enough that overalls aren’t cute on her anymore.

Hangin with our bestie cousin.

Feeding the ducks. I distinctly remember when I was about R&C’s age and going to this same lake with my grandmother to feed the ducks. I was wearing my fuzzy blue coat and was absolutely terrified of them. But a nice man snapped my picture, and there I was in the newspaper the next day. I wonder if someone still has that paper?

Holding hands on the ride back to Austin.

Did you have a good Thanksgiving? What are some of your favorite holiday memories?

  1. What sweet memory-making moments!

  2. Aw, the holding hands is too wonderful.

Glad you guys had a good holiday.

  3. Cookie making, cousin time and holding hands and great holiday activities.

I’m in Texas, too. You said Austin, I made an assumption.

  4. That black friday? Rules. WAY better than shopping! Looks like so much fun…I can’t wait to see Luke’s face when we put up our tree. It’s so much fun having little ones around the holidays.

    • It is. Last year they weren’t that into it, but this year they are obsessed with some of the ornaments. And we’ve lost 2 to the trash can. :)

  5. I wish I had pictures of all these fun moments when I was a kid. It’s such a gift to be able to chronicle this for our kiddos!

  6. I was gonna say something snarky about the girls licking the icing but then I saw them holding hands. I will abstain from the snark, for now.

    • You would, you snarky woman. What could you possibly have snarky to say about me letting my kids lick beaters of batter containing uncooked eggs? Salmonella be damned!

  7. I’ll have to look, but I think I came across that paper not too long ago!! It seems like I remember seeing it, but I’m not sure where.

  8. I can’t believe we failed to get a group pic while you guys were here!

  9. So cute! Duck can be mean and oh so scary when you are right at their eye level. By the looks of the picture the girls were definitely out numbered. Life is rich with memories like these. What fun!

  10. What great memories!!
I, however, was crashing through doors at the black Friday sales!!

    • You rock, lady. I may have done that too if I wouldn’t have had to either take my brood with me or be faced with the guilt of leaving them at home with C while I shopped til I dropped!

  11. What amazing memories! The cookies look really delicious!
